The Divine Life of Neem Karoli Baba

I am nobody. I am not a guru. I am only an old man who loves you.

Neem Karoli Baba

The Incarnation of Compassion

Param Pujya Shri Neem Karoli Baba Maharaj Ji (known lovingly to his devotees as "Maharajji") was one of India's greatest modern mystics. Living a life of supreme simplicity, wrapped in a humble plaid woolen blanket, he shunned all self-promotion, ashram politics, and orthodox rigidities.

Maharaj Ji never gave formal lectures or initiated people through ceremonial rituals. His transmission was pure, silent, overwhelming love. In his divine presence, anger dissolved, minds quieted, and hearts were permanently pierced with devotion to Lord Hanuman and Shri Rama.

The Mystery of the Blanket (कम्बल की महिमा)

Wherever Baba Ji walked, he wore a simple coarse woolen blanket (kambal). Devotees observed countless miracles associated with this blanket: bullets from faraway warfronts were caught inside it, terminal fevers were absorbed by it, and secret thoughts were shielded under it. To this day, offering a pure woolen blanket at Baba Ji’s temples is considered one of the highest acts of reverence.
